I want to see Nintendo make a game with ...

I have been playing Donkey Kong, Mario, Zelda, and Metroid since the NES days. Since then they have made toms of spin offs with these characters but no real new ones. Eventually playing it safe with the same characters is going to hurt Nintendo and honestly I am amazed it hasn't happened yet. I will say it brings me back to feeling like a kid when playing these games but I really want them to move in a new direction!!!I want to see Nintendo make a game with ...
I agree completely. Here's hoping they have some new IPs in store. I want to see Nintendo make a game with ...
You mean like F-Zero, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, 1080*, Advance Wars, ExciteBike, Custom Robo, and Earthbound?
I would like to see them make a brand new character/s and a whole new series that has no ties to any previous nintendo games. Its time for some fresh faces and ideas to appear.
You mean like F-Zero, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, 1080*, Advance Wars, ExciteBike, Custom Robo, and Earthbound?
fzero is not new lol (multiple games), same with excitebike (multiple games), 1080 same (N 64 %26 Game cube) earthbound was one game made on the SNES (the best Nintendo Console ever). Animal crossing (multiple games) Pikmin (multiple games) custom robo..... um crap game lol, advance wars not made by nintendo lol. So one of your games you mentioned is original and that was from 4 systems ago lol. I am talking about major huge selling games. You must not have gamed for very long huh? Nintendo has stuck to the ones I said as their bread and butter, I would like to see them flex those Nintendo Muscles and make a brand new killer IP!!!!

Mario's being going for like 20 years now, why do you think it's gonna hurt Nintendo now? Tbh I don't think they'll ever introduce someone to ''replace'' the likes of Mario, DK %26 Link they're icons now.
The thing is, once Nintendo makes a new ip the main character instantly *becomes* another ''flagship'' character. If you don't like a lot of sequels I suggest you change hobbies ;)

I've been gaming since 1889, way longer than you have. You stated DK, Mario, Zelda, and Metroid. I assumed that you were saying ''Gee, I'm tired of these franchises, why doesnt Nintendo make new ones?''. I posted those because 1. These are not spin offs or sequels to the four franchises you stated 2. Some new IPs are PUBLISHED by Nintendo. That means they either own all or a portion of the franchise. and 4. Because Nintendo and its 2nd parties have been making new IPs through every generation.
Talking about why Nintendo has not made any new IPs is dumb because, guess what, their current console is a year old. It takes longer than that to make a quality game, and even longer to get into the process of making a long lasting IP. But hey, them brining out the Wii Series (Play, Sports, Music, Fit), Endless Ocean, Disaster, and Project HAMMER ( cancelled ) means nothing, right?

/end rant

/end rant
well i have been gaming since 83 lol, and again i am saying major IP's all the other consoles have done it. People buy Nintendo for the major IP's I listed, I would just like them to make a new IP that would make me want to buy a wii, I am sick of the same games over and over. They are good but at a certain point it needs freshening up
Yeah I know what you mean - I'd like to be surprised with something BRAND new again. I count PIKMIN as a new title (especially since it was created by S. Miyamoto), but that didn't quite have the same magic (for lack of a better word) as the other established creations.
Ok someone said they've been gaming since 1889? That's some feat great grandpa!I think what Nintendo have delivered to us thus far with the DS and Wii has been really fresh Twilight Princess was great, MP3 was great and Mario Galaxy is even better. Some ppl are just too fussy IMHO.
1889? That is way longer than I have been gaming. I didn't start gaming until 1989 in arcades.Anyway I get what you mean Nintendo does have other IPs.
Pikmin (multiple games)
but that is a game made without said flagship characters.
Disaster is a new IP just off of the top of my head, and the DS gave birth to a whole crapload of new Nintendo IPs.
Lol cut the guy some slack it was just a typo.. Anyways I have only been Gaming since 93, and i can definately see where the topic creator is coming from, and I agree completely. Though i LOVE all their flagship characters it's really rare that they ever venture outside of their comfort zone. Although it's not like they NEVER try to make a new Character or IP, wasn't Geist published by Nintendo? I;m sure there were more but i can't really remember and that's the thing most times when Nintendo tries to make a completely new character it doesnt always catch on how they would like, So sticking with what works and with what people already know and love (Plus what makes them their large amount of Profits :P) is just what they see as a good business model.. It's worked for more than 20 years now.
Nintendo has a mature franchise that was made 2 years ago. It was a game released by Nintendo Space (and the lead developer/story creator was Shigeru himself), its on the Gamecube and is known as Geist.
i guess i don't follow what you're saying...what's the argument for why this will eventually hurt nintendo??? making AAA titles that do incredibly well featuring your most loved characters seems like a pretty good idea to me, regardless of whether they're old or not. these games may feature the same characters, but they star in completely fresh games. mario has been around forever, yet mario galaxy is unlike any game ever made. we're not just talking about sequels...like mega man sequels...we're talking about a new experience everytime.i agree that new franchises are good, but i don't really see a great 'need' for one. and with the quality and variety of nintendo games, i certainly don't see how using nintendo characters is going to hurt nintendo down the road.
sorry, none of those games pushes a console.
You mean like F-Zero, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, 1080*, Advance Wars, ExciteBike, Custom Robo, and Earthbound?
Everytime they make a new character or ip (pikmin, animal crossing, etc) they become these ''flagship'' things the TC is talkin' about. So nonflagship games are rare.
