I'm really looking forward to Chrono Trigger, but I still have no idea when/if they'll put it on the Virtual Console. I think they're remaking Ys 1 and 2 for the DS though...When the hell are Ys Book 1 and 2 coming ...
Ys Book 1 and 2 werejust rated for the OFLC which is Aussies. Hudson does say what games come out for the vc each month. When Ys Book 1 and 2 get announced for NA we will know. As for those square-enix games some of them have nasty licensing issues but a recent list of games coming to the Japanese vc shows that square-enix is supporting the service more so the games from them will come.
I agree wholeheartedly. I already have Chrono Trigger for the PS1, but I'd download Ys, Mana, and Earthbound the day they came out.
Sweet! Thanks for the info. I also heard that Ys book 1 and 2 were coming to the DS, but $44 each is a steep price for those, even if they're going to update the graphics like they said.
YS 1 and 2 for DS are two seperatate games. They do appear to be adding a lot namely upping the graphics and adding more content to make the 44 dollar price tag 88 dollars for both games more palatable.
Without violating GameSpot's TOS, I can honestly say there is a good reason why you won't see Y's Book 1%262 on the Virtual Console. They are CD rom games, and aren't exactly easy to emulate on the Wii hardware. Expect to see Turbografx CD games on the VC when you see GameCube games on the VC. Until then, hope for cartridge-based games, join the club with those who feverishly want to revisit the Y's series.

TG-CD games are now available on the VC. Gate of Thunder is the first game available.
I know, I heard about 1 and 2 being sold separately. That's why I'm saying it sounds really really pricey. As far as the graphics updates (although I'm sure there will be more that this), all I heard about was that on the map, when you push the button to swing your weapon, you actually see your character swing it. Also, I find it hard to believe they wouldn't be able to emulate a 16 bit game, reguardless of whether it's on a disc, or in cartridge form. The only reason it wouldn't be released on VC that I can see, is because it's being released for DS at a $44 price point for each book. I think you can find the article on 1up somewhere. Pretty sure that's the one anyway.

I've been playing Ys Book 1 on my cellphone and I dont think I could justify a $44 price tag for a DS copy. They'd really have to beef up the content for it and make it look superb for me to even consider it. I'd really like to see some old-school classics come into the VC but all this license stuff is really annoying. Just give us some games to be nostalgic with! Yeesh. :P
hope they do come out
Ys's Book 1 and 2 are already out on the vc in Japan. Where the holy hell have you been? There are a ton of things I could say but would get me banned to describe how ignorant you are. Hudson confirmed ages ago that several Turbo-cd formats were coming. They have a thing called comprehension. A lot of the PS1 titles, SEGA CD, Turbocd games can be compressed to 40 megs or less and guess what not lose any audio quality and actually load faster. They didn't know a lot of tricks we know today and lazy developers refuse to use these tricks hence why the calls for blu-ray, multiple dvd.You can design a game that is 400k and that can rival several 400-500 meg games in scope because the 400k game actualy creates the game from a template when you boot up the programinstead of having the whole game being written beforehand.
I agree with you the entire list you said are titles that I am really looking for on my Wii VC right now. I just downloaded Breath of Fire 2 which is actually a pretty good looking game considering it's a Capcpm RPG but non the less it is a cool add to my VC collection. Now when can I get Y's books 1%262....I remember this story very well when I beat it on mt Turbo CD.
