I am looking to pick up HD component cables for my Wii and had some questions.-Is there any noticeable difference in the picture when upgrading to the component cables?-Would you recommend buying the official Nintendo Wii Component cables, or is there no difference between those and a cheaper 3rd party model that you can get off say, Ebay?ThanksWii Component Cable Question
I'm using the Nintendo component cables on an older SDTV tube flatscreen, and the difference is quite noticeable. Much brighter colors %26 sharper picture. As for other brands, I can't offer any advice. I'm happy with the component cables, though, so I hope that helps.Oh, and not all TVs support the progressive scan setting, which becomes an option on the Wii Settings when you use the component cables. But even without progressive scan, the picture is just much better. (Just keep the old cables in case you try that option [like I did] and need to get back out of it.)Wii Component Cable Question
Is there any noticeable difference in the picture when upgrading to the component cables?
Yes, but the degree of difference depends on your TV. Generally, the larger the TV, the more noticeable the difference. Optimum performance is probably in the 30-40'' range, as anything smaller than that will see minimal change (mostly in color clarity), while anything larger than that will look clearer to the point of more defined jaggies. But regardless, the component cables are a must if you have a TV with the proper inputs.
Would you recommend buying the official Nintendo Wii Component cables, or is there no difference between those and a cheaper 3rd party model that you can get off say, Ebay?
I'd say go with whatever's cheapest, keeping in mind that you can't always trust used products. The difference in quality among brands should be nearly non-existent.
I bought the component cable that is advertised alongside the wii. I have a great 42 inch LCD, and although there is a difference, the wii is just not capable of outputting great graphics on larger displays. If you play lots of wii, then sure you can pick it up.
I picked up the first-party component cables and I can see a noticeable difference. I play on a 32'' LCD and though there are jaggies here and there, the overall improvements across the board more than make up for them. I recommend picking up the component cables.
I noticed a big difference on my HDTV.
i never played a wii without a big HD so i couldnt tell ya, but go with nintendo, remember 3rd party may mess it up. always go with nintendo if ur with a nintendo product.
big difference for me on hdtv. moving edges and jagged edges are lowered significantly. i got the the mad catz component cables and my brother has the offical nintendo ones. i have used both and they both give the exact same result. hope that helps.8)
I was thinking the same two things. Cause im getting a flat screen HDTV for christmas...might aswell pick them up.
I have Component cables for my 52inchHD plasma LG TV and it looks awesome. I think it is very noticible. It has more colors and sharper texture which look better than the normal, but the Miis look too sharp:D:DI also think picture quality may depend on your TV. Mine looks really good but it may look aBIT better on a smaler TV. I dont think you should by a used one. Who knows what the used cables have been through.Just buy a 20 to 30 dollar one in gamestop, walmart, Best buy, or where ever you go to buy stufff:D:D
big difference on my LCD HDTV - this one only costs $6.40: http://tinyurl.com/22ubcl
