While I haven't played it myself, firstly any Metroid fan would attack you if you call it a FPS (they say it's a FPA.) Also it doesn't have multiplayer, it focuses more on the single player experience and I'm aware that Halo lives off it's multiplayer.

Metroid isn't a generic, dumbed down, casual shooter.
They are too different to really compare but... they both involve shooting and are fun, so i guess you could say that, its just that metroid has no multiplayer and has a great, long single player.

No,Metroid Prime 3 is not Nintendo's ''Halo''.Both are distinctly different games.The closest thing Nintendo has to Halo is Super Smash Brothers Brawl.
i think they have quite a few similarities, especially MP3 where there is much more interaction with other humans etc.but they also have many differences
