Best Mario Game...
Today, i was also thinkig about the best mario game ever. Post your opinions. Here磗 the list of Games:Post your favorite game, not the series, this is just a reference.
- Super Mario Series ( 64, Sunsine, Galaxy)- Super Mario Bros. ( 1,2,3, etc)- Super MArio Land ( 1, 2: six golden coins, etc)- Super Mario World-Yoshis Island- Sport spinoffs( mario baseball, mario strikers, mario tennis and golf, etc.)- Mario Kart Series- Wario Ware Series ( they count as mario too)- Wario Land- MiscellenousPlz try to post, this could be a good thread!Best Mario Game...
- Mario Kart Series was the best to me then mario bros.Best Mario Game...
Super Mario World. absolute favorite. no matter how many other marios i play, i always come back to that one.
Tie between Super Mario Bros 3 and Galaxy.
Of course Mario Kart series are great too.
I would say the super mario series consists of the best games
-Super Mario Bros3-Super Mario galaxy-Mariokart DS
The best mario game by far is Super Mario World, followed by Super Mario Brothers 3, Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario 64...after that then there can be debate.
super mario 64
I have only played the platformers and RPGs, but from those, I'd say that my favorite is SMB3, with SMW coming in a close second.I also haven't played Mario Galaxy yet (I might be getting it for Christmas), but from the looks of it, it might end up being my favorite.
Mario Party!
In my opinion the best Mario games out there are Galaxy and Super Mario Bros. 3.Maybe RPG....
I would say Mario 3 or Mario World.
Galaxy
The wario ones are fun, but I'd have to go with galaxy.
i loved galaxy but i cant tellyet if itll hold up like the classics but im sure it will, excluding galaxy for that reasoni would have to say World is my favorite with SMB3 and SM64 RIGHT behind it, ahhh its so hard to choose a favorite
you forgot Party...

I'm used to seeing double topics, but two nearly identical topics made by the same person on the same day? What's up with that?
TP was such a great experience and Wind Waker seemed good but just too easy
Between only the two...I don't know. They both had very different feels to them. I enjoyed them both equally I'd say.

Wind Waker because I think it has a bettes history then twilight princess

Wind Waker was better imo
I gave an explanation on why in another thread...
Windwaker is the better game in my opinion.
Twilight Princess, I couldn't stand the graphics in Wind Waker plus it was just too kiddy for me.
Sorry for making 2 threads... by the way, if you can, plz post your opinions in the thread that has a poll, its better :)
i couldnt tell you. twilight princess was my first zelda game (im 20 and it's my first!) and that game blew my mind away. it's a great game and i never thought the wii can handle such a complexed game like this cause of the motion controls. with its precise control, rich, epic story, this is one of the best wii titles out. period.
Oh my god definately Twilight Princess, by far. This is only because I haven't played Wind Waker yet.:Dzits

Resident evil question
I got the Wii zapper and I wanted a game that uses it so which uses the zapper best, RE Wii edition or REUC?Resident evil question
bumpResident evil question
RE UC, Ghost Squad, and Link's Crossbow Training all use it. they are all good games too.
Umm, well, RE4 was not built with the zapper in mind, its not an arcade-style on-rails shooter. Resident Evil : Umbrella Chronicles on the other hand is an on-rails shooter made with Zapper in mind. Does that answer your question?

Where's C.Falcon, Ness, Mewtwo, Ganondor ...
I was just on the smash DoJo site and noticed that there are a lot less characters for wtv reason... and nowhere does it list:
Captain Falcon
Ness
Mewtwo
Ganondorf
Marth
Roy
Game and Watch
Pichu
and some of the other chracters from Melee too but theyre a bit less important since theyre moves are the same as some other fighters (i.e. Falco, Luigi, Dr Mario etc)
anyone kno if these guys are in the game or wats goin on?

use the SSBB sticky thread for Super smash bros stuff or go to the super smash bros boardWhere's C.Falcon, Ness, Mewtwo, Ganondor ...

lol calm the f down its a freakin question
some might not be back since they are doubles cpt falcon will be more likley to come back then pichu and ganondorf will come back but with a different move set and i heard game and watch isnt coming back but im not to sure on the rest

they probably won't be relvealed until you have the game and unlocked them by playing it just like melee. Capt Flacon is the only character that you don't have to unlock in melee that hasn't been revealed.
Maybe they werent released yet, and a Fire Emblem character was released and probly will take over Roy and Marth..
and Pokemon Trainer probly took over Mewtwo...C.Falcon idk about but Lucas is in Mother 3 Which is the sequal to what Ness was in, Mother 2.. So I dont think they will be in there in ANY chance except for C. Falcon.

Someone made a comment awhile back about how the sword symbol to denote Fire Emblem characters is from one of their games, so they kind of have to be there. Then again, I could be wrong. But Captain Falcon has to be in the game, because Samurai Goroh is in the game. Pichu was a clone, so I doubt he'll be there, and Ganodorf was a clone as well, but he might get a different moveset. If Ice Climbers are in I'd imagine Game and Watch would be too, because I always thought of those two as characters for those die-hard fans that actually like playing as them. Anywho, anyone else that hasn't been revealed will either be revealed later, or won't be revealed at all.

the wii is powerful enough to do it the only problem is the download time because Dreamcast games are alot bigger then n64could Dream Cast games come to the VC
I wanted to click ''who cares'' but that choice wasn't in your poll. DC games came on disks, so they're probably too big for the VC.
Possibly. But not enough space on the harddrive. Sadly. A game would take up half or more of the harddrive on the Wii.
I've thought about this before. The DC controler and the classic controler are similer so (memory issues aside) it could work.
Actually Nights was Saturn, Not Dreamcast.
Anyways... no, because not only are they too big (GD-ROMs could hold up to 1.2 GB, which is over twice the Wii's internal FLASH memory capacity), the Wii simply doesn't have the ''juice'' to emulate DC. Emulation requires serious processing power... the device emulating must be considerably more powerful than the device being emulated, especially if the hardware is so radically different. The Wii is stronger than the DC sure, but the difference isn't enough.
Yeh, NiGHTS was on the Saturn, not the Dreamcast
The Wii is not powerful enough to emulate the DC and one game could not even fit on the internal memory.zits

Wii Component Cable Question
I am looking to pick up HD component cables for my Wii and had some questions.-Is there any noticeable difference in the picture when upgrading to the component cables?-Would you recommend buying the official Nintendo Wii Component cables, or is there no difference between those and a cheaper 3rd party model that you can get off say, Ebay?ThanksWii Component Cable Question
I'm using the Nintendo component cables on an older SDTV tube flatscreen, and the difference is quite noticeable. Much brighter colors %26 sharper picture. As for other brands, I can't offer any advice. I'm happy with the component cables, though, so I hope that helps.Oh, and not all TVs support the progressive scan setting, which becomes an option on the Wii Settings when you use the component cables. But even without progressive scan, the picture is just much better. (Just keep the old cables in case you try that option [like I did] and need to get back out of it.)Wii Component Cable Question
Is there any noticeable difference in the picture when upgrading to the component cables?
Yes, but the degree of difference depends on your TV. Generally, the larger the TV, the more noticeable the difference. Optimum performance is probably in the 30-40'' range, as anything smaller than that will see minimal change (mostly in color clarity), while anything larger than that will look clearer to the point of more defined jaggies. But regardless, the component cables are a must if you have a TV with the proper inputs.
Would you recommend buying the official Nintendo Wii Component cables, or is there no difference between those and a cheaper 3rd party model that you can get off say, Ebay?
I'd say go with whatever's cheapest, keeping in mind that you can't always trust used products. The difference in quality among brands should be nearly non-existent.
I bought the component cable that is advertised alongside the wii. I have a great 42 inch LCD, and although there is a difference, the wii is just not capable of outputting great graphics on larger displays. If you play lots of wii, then sure you can pick it up.
I picked up the first-party component cables and I can see a noticeable difference. I play on a 32'' LCD and though there are jaggies here and there, the overall improvements across the board more than make up for them. I recommend picking up the component cables.
I noticed a big difference on my HDTV.
i never played a wii without a big HD so i couldnt tell ya, but go with nintendo, remember 3rd party may mess it up. always go with nintendo if ur with a nintendo product.
big difference for me on hdtv. moving edges and jagged edges are lowered significantly. i got the the mad catz component cables and my brother has the offical nintendo ones. i have used both and they both give the exact same result. hope that helps.8)
I was thinking the same two things. Cause im getting a flat screen HDTV for christmas...might aswell pick them up.
I have Component cables for my 52inchHD plasma LG TV and it looks awesome. I think it is very noticible. It has more colors and sharper texture which look better than the normal, but the Miis look too sharp:D:DI also think picture quality may depend on your TV. Mine looks really good but it may look aBIT better on a smaler TV. I dont think you should by a used one. Who knows what the used cables have been through.Just buy a 20 to 30 dollar one in gamestop, walmart, Best buy, or where ever you go to buy stufff:D:D

Don't like Wiimote but want a Wii...
I know this question has been asked a lot, but my concern is different. Basically, I don't like Wiimote. The idea of jumping around and doing all these motions makes me personally cringe, and I get very embarrased when I see the adverts on TV... specially that Mario Olympics one. I was wondering if the classic Wii controller is any good and makes for good gameplay. I'm asking about games like SMG, Metroid Prime 3, and Zelda. thanks.Don't like Wiimote but want a Wii...
No, don't bother with the console. By the way, what you saw on TV is not the reality. Don't like Wiimote but want a Wii...
The commercials are a bit exaggerated, Wii Sports is better when you stand and wave around a bit. But the games you mentioned are easy to play sitting, no standing waving your arms around required.
you should first of all try it, since most of the games do not involve what you describe as ''jumping around and doing all these motions'' they are more just very small movements like waggle, or pointing.
Secondly the virtual console controller is only for the virtual console and selected games, none of which you mentioned

A lot of people think that the whole idea of the wiimote is swinging your arms around like a foo,but for most Wii games its as much as a flick of the wrist. Well... excpet maybe mario olympics, butthats point of that game.

VC Releases for 11/26/07.
WII-KLY UPDATE: THREE NEW CLAS-SIC GAMES ADDED TO WII SHOP CHANNELNov. 26, 2007Let's hope you all survived the long holiday weekend. With all the eating, traveling and family fun, isn't it time to do something just for you? So take a few minutes and do a little shopping from the comfort of your couch, away from the chaos of the malls. This week you can get into a game of hoops, do a little faux gambling or head out to sea with your favorite dolphin friend.
Three new clas-sic games go live at 9 a.m. Pacific time. Nintendo adds new games to the WiiTM Shop Channel every Monday. Wii owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii PointsTM to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. This week's new games are:
DOUBLE DRIBBLETM (NES®, 1-2 players, rated E for Everyone, 500 Wii Points): DOUBLE DRIBBLE, the first 5-on-5, full-court home basketball game, is pure hoops action at its finest. While still a surprisingly accurate basketball game for its time, the frantic action keeps you on your toes as your players run from one end of the court to the other. Choose from a handful of teams and multiple levels of difficulty as you take on the computer alone or challenge a friend and see who has the better skills. Take the ball and sink shots from locations all over the court, or get in your opponent's face and do your best to block the shot. Better yet, drive the lane and rock the rim to see one of the game's trademark slam-dunk cut scenes. He shoots, he scores!![]()
Vegas StakesTM (Super NES®, 1-4 players, rated E for Everyone - Simulated Gambling, 800 Wii Points): Feel like taking a road trip to Las Vegas? Let your inner high roller go wild as you try your luck at five different games-blackjack, slots, poker, craps and roulette. Start with only $1,000 in your pocket and play your way through five casinos, each with a different theme and varying limits. But no one wants to gamble alone, right? Not a problem, as you'll be able to choose one of four friends to tag along and offer advice when you need it. Further enhancing the experience is the fact that you'll be presented with a slew of interactions with random casino patrons. Best be careful, though-your choices in these situations could either get you closer to the millions of dollars you're after or cost you a pile of that hard-earned cash. Roll the dice, spin the wheel, hit or stand-do whatever it takes to stake your claim in Vegas and beat the house!![]()
Ecco Jr.TM (Sega Genesis, 1 player, rated E for Everyone, 800 Wii Points): The aquatic adventures of Ecco come to life for a younger generation of gamers. Perfect for kids, Ecco Jr. finds our young hero heading out to sea with a variety of tasks he must perform in order to get there. Along with his friends Tara the baby orca and Kitnee the young Atlantic dolphin, Ecco Jr. will interact with sea lions, sea horses and other aquatic life as he makes his journey to the Big Blue. Introduce your kids to the clas-sic series of Ecco the Dolphin titles by downloading Ecco Jr. today.

NES and SNES and 64 and genesis all had lots of bad games as well as their killer appz, and they have to get them all out eventually, so some weeks, you ahve to expect garbage releases.
I don't think theres ever been a worse day for VC releases. Today is just horrible.

Looks like we'll be getting more Residen ...
Resident Evil: Umbrella ChroniclesDerpDerpDerpDerpDerpKeep in mind that:1. This game had no advertising2. This game came out 1 day after Super Mario GalaxyAlso remember that:Capcom said they would make more Resident Evil games if this sold well. nice... but I already saw that cominLooks like we'll be getting more Residen ...
Not bad at all. Now let's wait and see if they will exceed Capcom predictions. RE4 sure did.
Capcom is going to reward us with more REmakes? Dont get me wrong REmakes are the best ports around but they are still ports and games we have already beaten.RE UC did not requore a huge budget and its selling great. Capcom is making bank on this game. Dont you think they could give us an original game or RE5.anyways they should have put RE2 in RE UC as well as Code Veronica X.

Not a big fan of the remakes, if they are going to bring a series rendition of RE to the Wii, they need to stop nickel and diming it since they have made such a large amount of money from RE4 and UC. They need to bring a series rendition of RE to the Wii in a new title or stop being cheap and make RE5 for the Wii.
Awesome... i can't wait.. i hope they do, as you can tell by my avatar (which is quite funny, but the writing was ripped off) that i love RE4 on wii.

Wii Delay
Does anyone else know about or experience delays when the Wii is trying to load a game that last several minutes?Wii Delay
Yes. If I start my Wii up and try to load the game right away it takes several minutes to load it. I don't know why though and it doesn't concern me.Wii Delay
Nintendo has a REALLY great policy on malfunctions. I had to return my Wii (the postman got a scratch on it when sending it to me,) all you do is in the Wii manual call up the number. If your Year Warranty hasnt run out, (if you got your Wii December last year or more recent it hasnt) they are really cool about it. You have 2 options. You can either send the Wii back and they will try to repair it, or they will send you a NEW WII and when you get the NEW WII, send your old Wii back. It costs nothing put postage maybe for you to send it back. Just give them a call. It may be something you are doing wrong.
I would REALLY rather not do that for something so minor.
Happens to me as well. Sometimes when I start up the internet channel but it doesnt really matter to me.zits

Face it, Bowser hasn't been ''bad&qu ...
Bowser is wayyy to soft nowadays, I remember facing him in a Mario Party game beating it only to be treated with a mushie ending in which Bowser's dream was to fight a good opponent. He's been a joke in the past Paper Marios and pretty much every game after the original Paper Mario. He was actually pretty bad in that game beating you up in the beginning of the game and then shooting you with lightning and than falling thousands of feet down. He was pretty funny in Paper Mario with his own diary and all but he was the classic Bowser yelling and hurting his followers and such. I even remember the badass ending in which he grew to an abnormal size with a super saijan like glow. So ya other than giga bowser who isn't even in a mario game bowser is become way to soft and although a lot of people like him funny, I don't.Face it, Bowser hasn't been ''bad%26qu ...
I'm serious.. Bowser is boring.. does he watch Family Guy? It seems like he likes to watch an old VHS tape of Jurrasic park while he casually plays Medal of Honor Frontline... seriously... he is like a homeschooled **** Face it, Bowser hasn't been ''bad%26qu ...
well bowsers intentions are always the same X_X and are they really bad? i mean the way he goes about doing them is bad but is it really so bad for him to just want to be with peach so much? give bowser some love XD
they should toughen him up and make him stop going after peach
I thought he was pretty bad in Super Mario Galaxy.
Yeah, I 've noticed that also. Bowser is no longer the bad guy we saw in Mario 64 and games before that. I think Nintendo is trying to refresh the story a little bit by makin Bowser a funny and miserable guy and making another monster that controls him and the entire universe or something like that. That's fun sometimes to have variations in the story, but we are willing to see that giant monster or a Giga Bowser, it is classic in the Mario series.
Well, he is pretty bad in SMG. I haven't detected any ''soft''-ness from him in that game.I like both Bowsers -- the funny one in the RPGs, and the villain in the platformers. He's awesome either way. :P
they should toughen him up and make him stop going after peach
Yeah they should show a scene where Bowser takes Waligi and rips off his head and he sucks the blood in his mouth and he spits it on Mario and the blood is poisonous like Medusas head :D
had you ever played super mario RPG TLOFSS???? he is a hero in that game, BUT only becouse someone else was using his castle, nobody ***** with bowser castle, except Mario of corsico
well bowsers intentions are always the same X_X and are they really bad? i mean the way he goes about doing them is bad but is it really so bad for him to just want to be with peach so much? give bowser some love XD
Exactly. The guy has tried and failed so many times to kidnap Peach. How many times can the guy try to do that until people stop taking him seriously. Even if Nintendo didn't portray him the way they have been, people would still think of him as a joke, but this way at least he's a lovable joke. :P
they should toughen him up and make him stop going after peach
Couldn't agree more, I'm so sick of the same plot of him trying to kidnapp Peach.
I Know. What happend to him being a tough, not so tough bad guy? You know, thats happend to a lot of bad guys like......... wait, he's the only one. DANG YOU NINTENDO!!!!! Next, nintendo will probly make Gannon some guy who runs in a flower field with Link and Zelda (UGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG)!!!!! I pray this doesn't happen, but it probly will.
i think he should kidnap like luigi or kidnap mario and luigi comes and saves him
I'm serious..

For those in the UK your best bet and Nintendo UK says this to is to buy the wii from Germany or France. It's the same region as the ones sold in the UK just a different plug. You can easily as well as cheaplybuy adapter plugs to make German or any other Western European appliance work in a UK outlet or power strip. The manuals from any Western European country will have English in them. Wii-Where can i get a wii from
try buying it at best buy or future shop?
I got mine from Germany.
Walmart or EB Games?
WEll truthfully, I have no clue if they deliver to London, but try to buy it at Gamestop. They sell it there for $199.
This person is from the UK do they even have the stores mentioned?

A Real Time Strategy game would work pretty darn well on the Wii. With the cursor replacing the mouse, and other buttons replacing hot keys, why not? It could work really pretty well, if it was done right.opinions? I just realized...

Nintendo WiFi USB Connector Error
Nintendo WiFi USB Connector Error:Alright, for the last week now I have been trying to install the tool to give me access to my wifi usb connector. I get the same ''Application Error'' everytime it gets about 75% in and into the ''Setting up Internet Connection Sharing'' section.Screenshots(In ordeR):http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a203/SilencedHero000/problemo1.jpghttp://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a203/SilencedHero000/problemo2.jpgI have tried all troubleshooting steps from Microsoft, Nintendo, and all I could find on Google. Does Anyone know how to fix this so I can install the tool and get playing Games online with the Wii?Someone has also told me to turn ICS on through my network connections, and said there would be checkboxes to do so in the Adv. section. Well, I did as I was told, but to no luck there was nothing he described there,...http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a203/SilencedHero000/problemo3.jpgHelp would be much appreciated, due to Nintendo taking 5-6 business days to reply to each individual email.Nintendo WiFi USB Connector Error

Ahem I had the same error for a while. Completly uninstall the adapter. Plug in just the adapter itself and see if the pc sees it. If it has you have an incomplete installation ruining it. Go into the device management and look for the adapter on the list of all devices. Turn on the see hidden devices option. Uninstall the driver. Turn off the computer retry with the latest version of the software from Nintendowifi.com.
Oh turn off the anti-virus software when you do the uninstall and install. Anti-virus can mess up either.zits

Wii SD Card
I know you can transfer photos from and SD card to the view, but is there any way to transfer images from the wii message board to the SD card?Wii SD Card
ANyone? I really want to put all my metroid and wii contest images on my computer.Wii SD Card
Read the effing manual or better yet try it and see if you can do it. It would only take two minutes to see if you could. Stop wasting everyone's time on something you could easily find out for yourself.

i hope you aren't serious....
He's talking about the 64 version...notice he didn't put SSBB...:?
maybe, if it's a Monday
I think TC is talking about VC release for n64 or SNintendo.
Is it a Monday? I don't want to look...But if it is, I suppose they might release it. But I think they will do the same thing they did with MP3. Release the other games before the new one comes out.

I'm tired of Gamespot.
Why does it seem like it takes them longer and longer to rate games now? I'm still waiting for reviews on some of the wii games that came out 2 weeks ago, like smackdown vs. raw.I'm tired of Gamespot.
they posted that review aleready, look on the wii page.I'm tired of Gamespot.
Why are you making two threads?
1. There have been alot of games coming out and there are alot to review so give them time.2. Smackdown vs. Raw isnt the biggest game compared to all the other monster titles so it probably was lower priority3. Gamespot isnt as big as some other sites. I have seen plenty of reviews for SD vs. Raw on other sites. Go check out all the other reviews out already. Just because you go to Gamespot doesnt mean you are limited to it.

i rented MOH:H2 and i own RE:UC. Im having more fun with RE:UC, but i am a RE fan -- I didnt really love MOH:H2.. the online is good but the lack of a headset makes it really boring. Either its online FPS (best FPS controls on a console by far) or a RE light gun game thats long, and ownage.RE: Umbrella Chronicles or MoH: Heroes 2
That made the decision harder but thanks.

what else can they put in brawl?
Pretty much every thing I would ever need or want is in brawl. what else could possible go into this game aside from levels and characters and items and stuff like that?what else can they put in brawl?
I thought adding a Melee and 64 mode under the gameplay options would be cool.
i.e. They change the mechanics of the game in each mode. Like in the 64 mode you wouldn't have access to side B moves or air dodging and in Melee mode, there wouldn't be any gliding or Footstool Jumps. I think it'd be cool using new characters with the old mechanics.what else can they put in brawl?
I don't get it, but it sounds intense.
Personally, I would like to replace the Mario/what ever character backround music with music of your own. Music is become a huge thing now adays. Im 13 and I always have my Ipod in my ear.
I can't think of anything eles that they should put in but this is Nintendo we're talking about, you never know what they'll come up with next so who knows what eles there might be.
im really excited for this game but i think that there are soooooo many possiblities for it that i dont care how much nintendo pushes it backa s long as the final thing is perfect =)

who knows the possibilities are endless. its gonna be a big super smashing cake. imma love this game for almost 6 years just like melee. im definetaly ready for this one.
they should put in a no gravity mode.
or you should be able to import pokemon from your ds to be in the game. and make like a pokemon trainer team character.
I strongly Disagree. This is the ALLSTARS of the Nintendo History. We dont want to turn this into a Pokemon Frenzy. This would also use much room and memory that they could use for more useful stuff
I know it would never work, but it would be cool to be able to pick which pokemon the trainer uses.

haha i really don't like pokemon, I only have the one for the ds and I stopped playing like halfway through cause I got bored, but tons of people love that crap and I can't think of anything else to include in brawl.
They still have to put in Event Match, and Multi Man Brawl which were from SSBM, oh, and smash coin battle

They pretty much have everything coveredMaybe a 2 player race to the finish, like in past smash bros games, when enimies try to stop you from finishing.
One person could be blocking and the other person trying to finish, or it could be a time attack, like the first one to finish winszits

Sd card problem
I had an MP3 player before with a 1.0 gig memory and some songs are on there and i only have some space left how do i get rid of the songs because i can't get rid of them anywhere else. so i need all of my space how should i get rid of my old songs if there is a way on the wiiSd card problem
if you want to get rid of all of them you could probably format the card in the wii which deletes everything or buy a sd to usb thing for $15

Is Fire Emblem an RPG?
I've never been a big fan of RPG's, but since that may be because I've never really given them a chance and gotten into one, I decided to ''force'' myself to play one. My question is, does Fire Emblem count as an RPG, or is too much TBS? I have a wii (with gamecube controllers) and a computer with a pretty modest video card (and a dreamcast, though I don't suppose that really makes much of a difference), any suggestions on which RPG to start with (if FE: PoR isn't good enough - my brother has it)?Is Fire Emblem an RPG?

It's a SRPG.
It's a SRPG.
LOLwe have thesame avatar.
It's a SRPG.
Specifically, a Turn-Based Strategy RPG. It was actually the first of its kind when the original game came out in 1990, IIRC. It's a turn-based strategy game at its core, but each character is a unique individual with his/her own stats, class, and weapons that are available to use based on that class. Where the RPG comes into play is that as the characters do battle, they gain levels, and stats can increase along with weapon proficiency (which may let a Warrior use a heavier axe or a Mage use a stronger lightning spell). It's one of my personal favorite series, but as you're posting this in the Wii board, I'll give you some advice-- don't start with Radiant Dawn, as it's a direct sequel to Path of Radiance on the GC and assumes that you're familiar with how the Fire Emblem series works. My reccomendation would be to get either Path of Radiance or Fire Emblem on GBA to start out. Path of Radiance starts relatively easy, gives you the basics of how to play, and gives you a chance to get a feel for the game. Fire Emblem on GBA actually has a 10-chapter Tutorial mode that takes place a year before the main story, and while still giving you a complete Fire Emblem experience, weaves a how-to-play in with a story about a girl who discovers that she's the only living heir to a disputed throne.Which brings me to another point-- Fire Emblem is rather unforgiving when it comes to character death. You can't simply farm up new troops, but rather you recruit certain soldiers as you go along. When they run out of HP, they're gone for good unless if you restart the level. Some characters will die, while other (story critical) characters will simply be too wounded to fight. When a main character dies, it's game over. The exception to this is Fire Emblem on GBA, which is another reason why it's a good place to start. If you lose a character (aside from the main one) during the first 10 chapters, they will be too wounded to fight, but after the 1 year timeskip, their wounds will have healed and be able to come back.
Well a first timer could get the strategy guide that came out for Radiant Dawn. It's actually fairly comprehensive in detailing the game mechanics.
Well a first timer could get the strategy guide that came out for Radiant Dawn. Well you don't have to read the walkthrough part. The parts I am refering to are basically a more user friendly guide to the stuff in the game manual.

so basically your saying read the tutorials...the game has those you know...you can go into guide while playing and do that to save yourself 15-20 bucks i dunno how much a players guide costs anymore.
Well the printed guide is just more easier to read and has quite a few tips btw. Also the ingame tutorials were handed out piecemeal to you just a few each chapter of the game. It took freaking forever for it to tell you what would only taken ten seconds to read in a printed guide.
I've never played anything in the Fire Emblem series but I don't think they give the same feel of a real RPG such as a game like Final Fantasy would give you.
Yeah like Final Fantasy is a real rpg series these days.
Thanks for all the help!Right now i think I'll start with Fire Emblem: Path of Radience, since I can get that easily and I prefer gamecube over GBA (and I understand that it's noob-friendly enough).I might be thinking too much ahead, but if I do like it, what other RPG's are good for beginers?
''RPG's are good for beginers''Anything not final fantasy.
''RPG's are good for beginers''Anything not final fantasy.
Final Fantasy, I actually find pretty easy. But the systems usually like Draw, Materia, etc make you have to pick it up fast later on

Golden Sun (Wii) Discussion
I've recently heard from some of my friends that a Golden Sun game was in the works for the Nintendo Wii. If this rumor turned out to be true, what would you like to see from the game, and what do you think the story in this one will be like?Golden Sun (Wii) Discussion
I hardly played the first one, and never played the second. But if this turns out to be true, then I'm totally excited for it. I'd honestly rather have it on the DS, though.Golden Sun (Wii) Discussion

I'd rather have it on the Wii. The DS seems to have plenty of rpgs out already. Plus i want to see how Golden Sun would push the Wii in terms of graphics since it looked amazing for a GBA game.

no it's not true, there were the same rumours about the GC, the likelyhood of them resurrecting that franchise now is very slim, far more slim than it was for them putting it on GC

Guess I'll need to bring this up myself. (Blame Boredom). Let's begin a discussion about what the story in this game would be like. From what I guess there are three possibilities:
1. A game that takes place 1000 years later and some new malevolent force is at work, staring descendants of the heroes,
2. A prequel to the original games that tells us how the Lighthouses got burned out in the first place,
or 3. Something taking place after the Lost Age that somehow carries on to a sequal then after. (Wont reveal to avoid spoilers)Anyone willing to discuss?
It would be nice. I loved the first game but I really didn't enjoy the second one that much.

He said he doesn't really trust Wikipedia, so i think it was unnecessary to put that link. Anyways to answer your question... False.
yeah, of course they are already thinking about the next console. And you know what, Sony and Microsoft are as well! But saying that there are facts that their next console will support 1080p is nothing more than an ''educated guess''.Of course the first plans for the console of the next cycle are being made when the current system launches. But the when you will hear about it for the first time depends on how succesfull the current console is.
It is common knowledge that system manufacturers start working on their next system soon after launch. Nintendo has stated that the next system will be HD and that the Wii has an intended 4-5 year life cycle. Nintendo was clear about it's intentions with the Wii and that is to draw in new gamers and old gamers who have lost interest in gaming. Building a significantly more power system than the GameCube was not the answer in Iwata's view. Nintendo is in-fact working on their 8th generation console and the other people who posted here saying they are not, have no idea what they are talking about.

What's the most useful accessories that you won't regret buying? I heard the only one to buy is just the zapper. What about Wii balance board? Anyone has experience with other Wii accessories? Are they worth to buy? Most useful WIi accessories? ?
The Nunchaku. Simply because it is almost a standard controller for some games. Most useful WIi accessories? ?

hey does anyone know if the zapper can be used with any game that involves shooting and pointing? i meen there are games that are supposedly compatible with it, but it just uses a regular remote and nunchuck so shudnt it work wit any shooting game?

Spore is offical for the Wii
Here's an excerpt from the latest Nintendo Power...''In an interview with UK newspaper Guardian Unlimited, Will Wright confirmed that his eagerly anticipated universe sim Spore is headed to Wii. Unfortunately, the design luminary offered no further details (nor an estimated time of arrival.)'' Spore is offical for the Wii
Im pretty sure the makers of spore announced this about a month ago.Spore is offical for the Wii
Yeah, that's kinda old.

dont u hate how they fill up half the box on the back with spanish and other translations?!?! i mean if someone doesnt understand english they shouldnt buy the game cuz the actual game is in englishwii game boxes

Yeah, it kind of gets on my nerves too. I know Nintendo is trying to branch out to more people, but I think just having English in the manual is fine

They are region specific. Europe due to it's language laws has all the Euro main languages. NA you have French, Spanish, English. You do realize that Spanish is a language that is huge in the US right?

The Future on Nintendo's Home Consoles. ...
You know... I have been closely watching the Wii and how It has evolved over this year, and as the first on It's six years of existence ( as Nintendo expects it to last ) goes by... I notice that nintendo has indeed accomplished what It wanted, people that never tought about gaming are indeed gaming... but the next generation, the 8th generation of gaming, will be much, much harder to take on... for all systems, but in my opinion, specially the big N's, why? well... tough they have the casual gamers, they don't give the same income in software as hardcore gamers do, now.. in the next gen, we can hope at least, that graphics wont be a problem (Not as big in this one, where it has become one of the big problems for the Wii being accepted), as every system with to-the-date technollogy will be far over today's best computers ( better than Crysis anyone? ), the appeal to gamers will be the inmersion... My problem? will Nintendo keep It's casual and massive aproach to gaming, go for an all out hardcore experience, or will they make a mix, and a system that will (try to) take on every aspect of home console gaming? (I know that every system tries to do the third, but... experience proves that systems allways go for one approach more than the other... at least in this gen) You be the judge. Oppinions anyone?sorry for any misspelling, I'm not from an english-speaking country. The Future on Nintendo's Home Consoles. ...

Err...I thought that about 90% of their software incomes came from casual gamers ?..
From my own and a lot of gamer friend's experiences, they're losing a bunch of us avid gamers cuz of their game selection and graphics that are way behind the xbox and playstations. The games are just way to simple minded and kiddy we're finding.
Looking at the Wii as a ''traditional'' home entertainment system...I'd agree. Thats the thing though, the Wii is primarily about the new controls and the traditional nintendo games that have been a staple in gaming for years. Personally, I don't think nintendo is all that worried about coming out with graphics that allow you to see the sweat dripping off mario's head, or to build a system that can handle a near perfect driving physics engine for mario kart... thats the thing about nintendo, its about tradition, what works, and extending within these boundaries. Look at all the kart games, the mario games, zeldas, metroids....all these relate to the roots. They know they're not ultra realistic. The Wii is an outlet for Nintendo to keep pushing these games but also to create a new experience when playing them. I mean textures, bump mapping, hd graphics, all great and fine, but that doesn't really transfer to a successful nintendo game. Look at the cube for an example. They focused on creating a game system to compete graphically with the other systems and it didnt turn out all that well. I think we'll see the next nintendo system far sooner than a PS4 or a new XBOX. This post of yours might also belong in system wars (always gotta be careful about talking about other systems).
Little know fact apparently: There is MORE revenue to be made from casual gaming than hardcore. Sorry people but casual gaming is just a much larger market.

And some parents actually don't get these games for their kids? Man, what is this world coming to...
If the next console does add a word like Game Boy did for its sequel console i recommend holophonic sound learning a few design techniques fron the best Wii design hoax ever the Nintendo ON. A headphone set that can be used as the experience, vocal interaction adding word recognition including the long stretched voice chat, and motion-detection from the head for further movement it would make a fantastic camera control. Now that would be total immersive gaming, adding the fact it will be actually a step above even ps3 in graphics and in storage space would give us plenty options.
There's been too many topics about the next gen imo, it's too far away and we should just enjoy this gen as it is and talk about issues closer to when it comes along. But on topic, I think that over time the casual gamers will slowly turn into hardcore gamers. Smaller children for example, who have started playing games with the Wii, will grow up as a big Nintendo fan like alot of us. It might end up being an on-going cycle which would make Nintendo even more superior in the long run.

I don't understand what makes the Wii a ''Kiddy'' system compared to other consoles, which offer the same type of games.
Most money comes from casuals. The hardcore crowd are just along for the ride. Everything everywhere is geared towards the mass audience.
casual gaming is the healthiest gaming; nintendo has won already.

I've loved nintendo ever since i played Super Mario Bros. 3, So you have a point.
Nintendo is reaching out to nongamers in a rather sparse manner, but the DS proved that's all it really takes, since nongamers don't pick up many titles, look at the games vs. nongames ratio on the DS, yet nongamers are apparently what's driving that handheld ahead. Nintendo is actually getting some casual market too, who are more attracted to the GTAs and Halos out there. The PC will and always will have a grasp on the core gamer, but if anything Nintendo is offering the core gamer incentive with the Wii with it's massive backlibrary, translated VC titles never-before-released in (given area), and some of the hardest damn quality games this generation - even if they aren't the ''big'' titles.
You people are confusing Casual and Hardcore gamers with kids, teens and adults. Ain't the same thing. The problem of the wii is the graphics. No, i'm no graphicwhore - on the contrary, I think the wii is my favorite console. But it's being left out of many great titles because it doesn't have high-end graphics... thats the reason why not having good graphics affects me, not by the visual itself, but because it decreases the ammounts of games we get. There are some producers that gives the wii a chance, but most of the game producers simply skip the wii. In the end, all the best titles we have are some ports and mostly the tiles Nintendo brings us, with some very little exceptions (REUC, MOHH2). Look at Xbox360/PS3, for example, they get games like Assassin Creed, or Oblivion. These 3rd parties could have easily been on the wii if it could support better graphics.I think Wii's casual gaming is evidence on the graphics. It makes the console cheap. I hope the next gen, they make a similar console, but competing with high-end grapchis. I think if Nintendo had better graphics, it would have been the UBER console.
In my opinion (sorry if someone else already wrote this) the Wii originally tried to appeal to a younger age group, but not many little kids even have a wii, so Nintendo left the hardcore gamers with the kiddie games. I'm glad that Nintendo is finally getting on the ball and releasing their games from big series (like Super Mario Galaxy and the upcoming Mario Kart Wii)
Interesting topic, but better off in System Wars. Thanks.

resident evil 4 wii edition or resident ...
i gust want to re4 is better then reuc because i might the reuc and want to know before i get itresident evil 4 wii edition or resident ...
They are 2 different games, RE4 is more of a real game, while RE UC is mainly for hardcore Resident Evil fans and rail shooter fansresident evil 4 wii edition or resident ...
re uc kinda sucks, re4 is goty 2004 or 2005 (i forget), end of story
I love RE 4. The only game in the last 9 years I have played twice. I love rail games and like RE but I am very dissappointed in RE UC. The recations from the zombies is inconsistant. One moment you shoot a zombie he flies back then you shoot him 5 more times and no reaction. RE 4 for the win! RE UC for the rent then buy
does RE4 use the zapper?
I would go with RE4 if you can't get them both. RE-UC is def a fun game, but it really isn't challegeing. It kind of sums up the first 3 games pretty well, but that game isn't meant to tell a story, it is just meant to kill stuff. Plain and simple, and it is a very fun game. 1st time I've gotten to enjoy a game that my wife also likes to play. But RE-4 is a better game. Awesome story, you don't need to know the history of the first 3 to understand it. Some of the gun fights are some of the toughest I've ever played. Very realistic feeling, the game has just enough puzzles to give you something to think of, but you won't get frustrated at all. The gun fights never stop, in the other RE games, the gun fights where few and far between. You would get to kill a couple of zombies at a time, not just 10-15, if not more. I have them both, but RE-4 is def better fora gamer.
does RE4 use the zapper?
No it doesn't. But the gunfights get to be pretty instense as it is.
I couldnt really understand your sentence, but here goes:
I have both and i like both. RE4 is more of a true RE experience, whereas RE:UC is like a light gun game a la arcade shooters. Both are good games.
RE4 for sure. It's makes great use of the motion controls.
RE 4 is definitely the more ''complete'' game. REUC is more like a side-dish. It's a very good side-dish, but nothing beats the main course (RE4). I would have to suggest Resident Evil 4. It will be more enjoyable over the long run. If, per chance, you are looking for something more Arcade-like then I would say go with Umbrella Chronicles. Otherwise, pick up RE4.
